Barrier Isolators are used in many pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and recently have become an excellent alternative to cleanrooms for meeting USP Chapter 797 requirements.  The isolator can be used to replace a IV Hood or Chemo Hood, and to eliminate the need for surrounding cleanroom conditions. Since the isolator is a self-contained cleanroom, special gowning is not required. All isolators are manufactured in stainless steel.

Two isolator styles are available. The higher volume, more sophisticated unit is the LFGI. The LFGI can be set up for either negative or positive pressure and is targeted for hospitals and facilities with mid to high volume applications. The LFGI is available in three sizes. 

A new unit targeted for retail pharmacies and home infusion facilities is the VersaFlow. It is designed with the same quality as the LFGI but with not as many features, available in only two sizes and can only be used for positive pressure applications.  Additional information can be acquired at www.germfree.com.
